62. Naota

Martin's Comments: And here's our last FLCL name! Funny, Naota also appears in both Haruko and Ninamori's pictures, and both of them are here in his. There's something else funny about Ninamori appearing here in relation to another pic we'll be getting to soon, but we'll go into that there.

So, yeah. Naota's a weird sort of usual target for us in short stories we do and RPs. We've kind of flirted with the idea of using him for it plenty, but we've never really gone all the way with that. It's weird. I do tend to kind of prefer keeping him as he is, just a mostly normal kid who's dealing with a bunch of crazy people. Funny thing about Naota, the more you watch the show the more you notice what a dick he is, but he remains pretty likable throughout.

That being said, we do have a script for a comic centered around him and Haruko that we've been meaning to get to for a long while. We probably won't have time for that for awhile yet, but if any of you has any interest in seeing it done let us know, might sway us a bit toward hitting it sooner rather than later. Speaking of, I am curious to see how this one goes over exactly. I'm pretty happy with it, but Naota is a boy and doesn't really have past success to give him an edge like Negi and Shinji. Hopefully he does well, though.

Anyway, I'm rambling here, so go read and ! Especially if you like that teacher seeing as there's a character in Blues who's quite similar to her.

Adam's comments: Shit, think Martin got everything on this piece. ^^ What else can I say.... Yeah, Naota really is the kind of character that seems like he'd be a total jerk, but is also strangely likeable. I can't really describe why; maybe it's just his age or his environment or those few vulnerable, lonely moments he's got to him. There's something that makes him pretty fun to watch.

But yeah, Naota is a lot more fun as-is, I think. The insanity shows a lot better when contrasted against him.

Y'know, if she wasn't such an obscure character, we could've done something with that childish teacher being padded. Thing that's the reason I worked her in here. ^^
